This is a very very sharp prime lens with autofocus. It takes pictures
so clear and pleasing that the kit lens generally can't come close to
this quality. This lens is good for low lights as well. It is NOT A ZOOM
lens...for people who are looking to get this as their main lens. This
is perhaps the sharpest nikkor lense you can get for general purpose
indoor use. Get an external flash and the results will be even better.
This is a great lens for DX crop sensor camera (it's only for DX, not
for FX) with a very reasonable cost, and for sure it's worth each cent
you pay for it.
That what makes the 35mm f1/8 G DX great is it's
combination of focal length / aperture / sharpness and overall image
quality / price.
I have both this lens and the 50mm lens. They are both great lenses but
I prefer the 35mm as I feel it is slightly sharper. I am using this
lens with a D90 and have gotten great results. I am new to the DSLR
world and this lens has opened my eyes to pics I didn't think about
before. I would recommend this lens to anyone looking for a "prime"
lens....if you have the D40 or D60 this lens is a must have. Some
places are charging crazy prices for this lens which is just stupid.
