The mattress is extraordinarily comfortable. Possibly better than your
bed at home. The flocked top surface prevents your slippery nylon
sleeping bag from oozing off the edge as you sleep.
This is the second Intex air bed that I have owned. Only the second as
my dogs punched a hole in the last one. I use this bed every night as my
main bed. I put it on a box springs and cover it with a bedspread (for
protection against the dogs nails). They hold air great. I did have
trouble with the hand pump however. The tips are very hard to get in and
the pump itself takes a lot of energy. I just grabbed my electric pump
that came with the last one and used that. As other reviewers have also
stated the pillows leave quite a bit to be desired. I think I will use
them as travel pillows only.
All in all I'd suggest this bed to
anyone that has back issues. I have lumbar stenosis and it makes my back
much less painful than a regular bed does. It also is a very sturdy
bed. I weigh close to 300 pounds (yes I am trying to lose weight) and
each of my two dogs weigh about 100 pounds each. All three of us can
sleep in it with no loss of air. I would strongly suggest putting a
blanket or something else between you and the matress to keep the cold
off your skin.
I used the product on a five day bike ride and camping trip. The
mattress itself was really great. Did not use the pillows. The hand pump
takes 7-10 mins of work to inflate the mattress. I suggest getting the
mattess and finding a battery powered pump.
